Seems to be the end of BC2
We're unhappy to inform you that the disk array on one of our servers has died.
We are currently in contact with our hosting provider in order to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

We were just informed by our hosting provider that the hard drives are indeed damaged.
We have managed to backup most of the data, however we are not sure if we will be able to restore everything.
We are currently awaiting a manual intervention from the provider to replace the disks and re-install the OS.
The server hard drives have been replaced and the OS has been re-installed.
We're currently working on restoring backed up data and services.
There is currently no ETA.

you: I've contact Steam to see if this was on their end, and they said that EA is the one who manages the login/account information for Bad Company 2.

you: I understand, but it has been 52 hours now. What exactly happened?
you: We've had no official word from EA as to the cause or the ETR (Estimated Time of Repair) and I know the game is only $20 USD, but still it is a great game and I'd like to know what exactly is going on

Juan: I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

Juan: Thank you for being patient. We are currently shutting down servers and doing mantenance on our servers and taking some servers offline.
Juan: We did not make this decision lightly but as an attempt to temporarily lower traffic on EA servers that is caused by the high traffic of newer players and accounts that have pre-ordered Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 3. After shutting down all EA Battlefield Bad Company 2 account servers which accounted for approximately 40,000 player slots we have actually gained approximately 50,000 more player slots from new accounts for Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. We will have enough server capacity to allow over 150,000 players to get in a game server at once and that is just on PC.
you: Are you serious? So what about the players that have just purchased the game or have accounts? What happens to them? Do they get a free copy of Battlefield 3 or 4?
